Ekipe Sports Centre

Area redevelopment

A severely shaped building, where material aspects and geometric forms are highlighted by contour lighting.

The Ekipe sports centre stands on the slopes of Mount Etna, in an urban area for years forgotten, full of typical 80s-style buildings, in a heterogeneous urban context. The attempt at redevelopment has resulted in an impressive sports centre, which hosts a wide variety of facilities: from swimming pools for water sports, to the outdoor areas with soccer fields, fitness rooms, areas for relaxation and refreshment or entertainment for the little ones. The entire work, with its square and severe lines, brings with it a strong almost rough materiality, in aesthetic contrast to the concept of hospitality and comfort that is typical of sports and reception centres. The right light however is well able to combine the rigidity of the architectural and interior design choices with the atmosphere of hospitality and warmth for anyone who loves movement and leisure.

The light blends perfectly with the architecture

Many solutions from the Professional Lighting collection have been adopted. Using strip lighting it was easy to illuminate the connecting areas, perimeter zones of the rooms and stairwells, with linear effects that define and accentuate these geometric squares and shapes. Using Paseo and Rubber, it was possible to deal with special installations flush with the walls and floor, giving character to the entire architecture, while Techo67 spotlights, used in the corridors, contribute to the overall lighting.

Speaking of the Architectural Lighting collection, however, several products have been used that are also conceptually conceived to integrate with the entire architecture. Fylo_Outdoor, used for the pools areas and changing rooms, allows general illumination to be achieved, while maintaining the linearity of light seen in other environments. In continuum with the geometric appeal, but almost in contrast with the rigour of the building, in the dining area we find Pool, almost playing with circles on the ceiling, and in the playroom for toddlers Orient, which animates the spaces with lightness and variability.
